Research Interests and Activities My primary research focus entails investigations of the relationship between population structure and relationships (i.e., genetic diversity) and archaeological and historical processes of social, political, and economic transformations. Doctoral work focused on the interaction of biology and culture/history during the mission period of Spanish colonial rule in the southeastern United States. Recent expansion of this research focus both temporally and geographically (to the desert Southwest) seeks to formalize models of bio-cultural interaction within an evolutionary framework.
