Welcome to AEG-TexasThe Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists (AEG) is an international, non-profit, scientific and technical association whose 3,000 members include geoscientists specializing in engineering geology, environmental geology, and ground-water geology as well as other professionals in affiliated fields such as civil and mining engineering, land-use planning, public policy and education.Through its technical and professional activities, AEG strives to promote the value and importance of geologic practice in:
detecting, containing, and remediating contaminated soil and ground water,
recognizing and mitigating hazardous geologic processes to promote public safety and welfare, and
siting, planning, designing, constructing and maintaining engineered works.The mission of AEG is to provide leadership in the development and application of geologic principles and knowledge to serve engineering, environmental, and public needs. The aims of the Association are to advance engineering geology and to:
promote public safety and welfare,
promote public understanding and acceptance of the field of engineering geology,
establish and maintain quality publications and professional standards,
monitor legal or other developments that would affect the profession of engineering geology, provide information on their potential effect, and provide an organization for concerted action when desired,
provide for discussions on subjects and problems within the field of interest of the engineering geology profession,
provide a medium for distribution of information and technical papers of interest to engineering geologists, and
encourage all qualified individuals and organizations interested in furthering the field of engineering geology to apply for membership and corporate or commercial sponsorship.
