Water Resources

Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) Florida's five water management districts, state agencies, the state university system, and federal agencies such as the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) are all actively working to help provide sustainable water for the future. However, state-wide coordination is difficult to achieve. One of the major, long-term objectives of the WRRC, which is headed by Dr. Kirk Hatfield at the University of Florida, is to serve as a focus and point of coordination for water-resources research in Florida. Recent News and Events Center supported research and educational achievements ·        UCOWR Dissertation Award, 2008: Dr. Leslie Gowdish, a recent graduate of the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department received a Certificate of Honorable Mention in the Universities Council on Water Resources (UCOWR) Ph.D. Dissertation contest in the Natural Science and Engineering division. Her thesis was entitled: "An improved Green-Ampt soil infiltration and redistribution method and its application to 1-dimensional and quasi 3-dimensional (point source) flow domains". ·        Best Technology Paper in ES&T, 2006 (view award online--read journal article) ·        ESTCP/SERDP, Project of the Year Award, 2006   Related Sites: NIWR UCOWR Affiliated Centers & Programs UF Water Institute Hydrologic Sciences Academic Cluster
