Interactive Visualizer and Image Classifier forSatellites (IVICS)

IVICS was developed as a visualization tool to facilitate selection of training samples from satellite images. It has evolved into a general purpose visualization system which supports several common satellite and remote sensing data formats. The Generalized Satellite Format (GSF) library was developed to support IVICS. Both IVICS and the GSF library are available free of charge under the GNUGeneral Public Licence (GPL). The following links containinformation about IVICS and GSF. Version 1.4 adds some exciting new functionality with the (optional) integration of the ADaM data mining toolkit developed by the Information Technology and Systems Center (ITSC) at UAH. ADaM and IVICS complement each other very well. ADaM provides powerful clustering, classification and data mining tools, while IVICS provides visualization and data integration. A few new GSF programs (more info to come) and bug fixes have also been include in the new release. IVICS source code and binaries can be downloaded here. 10-28-05: I know that it's been a long time since the last update, but I have been busy. The 1.3.1 release add a few new GSF programs (see Release Notes) and fixes some miscellaneous bugs. 2-6-04: Updated install_ivics to allow user to specify installation directory. Added uninstall option and a new build option for linking to previously installed hdf libraries. 1-23-04: Support for IVICS under Windows is now provided using the Cygwin environment. IVICS runs well under Cygwin using the KDE desktop. 12-09-03: Multiple spatial resolution support has recently been added. This means that data from instruments which support multiple resolution (ASTER, MODIS) can be stored into a single composite GSF file and displayed in IVICS at any of the native resolutions. Please see the Satellite ImageCalibration and Conversion page for more details. IVICS is a work in progress and more data types and features willbe added as time allows.
